01 What happened

The SAP Community post calls the Europe/Germany environment the first deployment of SAP Sovereign Cloud in Europe. SAP HANA Cloud is among the solutions available in that landscape at launch.

02 Key details

  • The Europe/Germany deployment runs on SAP Cloud Infrastructure, an IaaS platform hosted in SAP-owned data centers in Walldorf and St. Leon-Rot. All data, including telemetry, remains in Germany.
  • In June 2026, SAP received Authorization to Use from Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) to process VS-NfD (Restricted — For Official Use Only) information in these data centers.
  • SAP HANA Cloud at SAP NS2 has FedRAMP Moderate certification and is now available to U.S. federal civilian agencies through SAP NS2 Government Cloud, which runs on AWS GovCloud. It has been generally available to commercial customers in regulated industries since 2025.
  • The SAP NS2 environment is U.S.-based, managed exclusively by U.S. citizens, and restricts all operations and data to U.S. soil.
