01 What happened

SAP says its resale and support agreements for third-party databases and Java in affected systems will expire at the end of 2030, changing the support available and some transition options.

02 Key details

  • Mainstream maintenance for SAP Business Suite 7 remains available through December 31, 2027; optional extended maintenance runs through December 31, 2030.
  • After its agreements expire, SAP will no longer provide third-party database support in affected legacy environments, including database-related corrections.
  • SAP’s support arrangements for Java 8/JEE5 with SAP NetWeaver AS Java 7.5 end at the end of 2030. From 2031, the system and add-ons enter customer-specific maintenance, which cannot replace the expiring support and rights.
  • Conversion tooling for SAP Business Suite 7 on a third-party database to SAP S/4HANA or SAP Cloud ERP will be available only before the agreements end in 2030; afterward, SAP will support only greenfield transitions.

03 Why it matters

Customers with third-party database or Java dependencies need to account for support limits after 2030 and the deadline for certain system-conversion tools in their transition planning.

04 Who it matters to

SAP customers, SAP Basis teams and S/4HANA conversion project managers.
